Types of UK Study Visas

1. Tier 4 (General) Student Visa

  • Eligibility: Must be enrolled in a course at a recognized institution for a duration not exceeding six months.

  • Duration: Valid for the duration of the course, with no option to extend.

  • Work Restrictions: Students on this visa cannot work during their stay.

Steps to Apply for a UK Student Visa

  1. Choose Your Course and Institution: Select a course from a UK institution and obtain a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS).

  2. Prepare Required Documents:

    • Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS)

    • Valid passport

    • Proof of financial capability (tuition and living expenses)

    • English language proficiency test results (IELTS, TOEFL etc.)

    • Tuberculosis test results (if applicable)

  3. Complete the Online Visa Application: Fill out the Tier 4 visa application form and pay the application fee and Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS).

  4. Attend Your Visa Appointment: Schedule and attend an appointment at a UK visa application center to submit your biometrics.

  5. Visa Approval: Upon approval, you will receive a visa to study in the UK, allowing you to travel and commence your studies.

Post-Study Opportunities

After completing your studies in the UK, you have several options:

  • Graduate Route: This allows you to stay in the UK for up to two years (three years for PhD graduates) to work or look for work.

  • Skilled Worker Visa: If you receive a job offer from a UK employer, you can apply for a Skilled Worker Visa, paving the way for permanent residency.
